We played the Hotchkin course in Autumn 2006 at a time when there had been considerable rain. However, it drains well and was still in excellent condition. This is undoubtedly the best golf course in Lincolnshire and a real challenge for any golfer. A word of caution; if you are playing using the Lincolnshire County card, be aware that the green fee you pay, at any time of the year, is 50% of the summer visitor rate and not 50% of the rate at the time. This means that in the autumn, you save just £6 of the fee you would be charged without the card. We see this as a bit of a con trick; they don't!
In 2007, we played the Bracken course which, name apart, is probably better than the Hotchkin. The more recent design means that it is a thinkers course, with strategically placed bunkers and other features that deter the golfer who just likes to crash the ball down the middle. If you are playing the course for the first or second time, you will find the course guide to be very useful (£3 in the pro shop). For the Lincolnshire County Card holder, the same price con applies. |
